Why Join?

Women today are busier than ever, but need a chance to build skills, contribute to the community and develop friendships. The Junior League of Phoenix gives women these opportunities in a fun team-oriented effort. Our members also enjoy year round social functions, participate in special interest groups and make friendships that last a lifetime.

The Junior League of Phoenix (JLP) empowers women through leadership training and development to take action in their community. Our members are leaders in the community and involved in hands-on opportunities to positively impact & better Phoenix - Currently we are impacting Phoenix by:

o Reducing the recidivism rate for women in Arizona
o Curbing the at risk behavior of teenage girls
o Preventing childhood illiteracy
o Helping to provide respite care for children with life limiting conditions
o Fostering cultural understanding, learning and imagination in children

How to Join

The Junior League of Phoenix welcomes new members in the late spring. Potential members can attend an orientation night in the spring to learn more about the benefits of membership. Membership in The Junior League involves a time commitment and a financial responsibility. If you are willing to learn, share your expertise and work with others, membership in The Junior League of Phoenix offers a beneficial and enjoyable association. There are three categories of membership: Provisional, Active and Sustainer.

The Provisional
Provisional Members are women in their first year of membership. The Provisional course is a required period of orientation. The JLP year begins May 1 and the Provisional course concludes at the end of March. The Provisional course provides education, training about the structure of The Junior League of Phoenix and our role in the community. Provisional members also have the opportunity to participate in "hands-on" activities, fundraising events and several social activities throughout the year. Successful completion of the Provisional course prepares Provisional Members for Active membership in one of the many Junior League committees.

The Active
Active Members are women who have successfully completed the provisional course. Active members have the opportunity to serve on a wide range of League committees, to vote and to hold office.

The Sustainer
Sustaining Members are former active Members that act as a support group for the League. Many Sustaining members serve in an advisory capacity. Sustaining members hold separate meetings and social events and share in all of the privileges of League membership except voting and holding office.
