The Junior League of Phoenix, Incorporated, Training
The depth of the training The Junior League of Phoenix, Incorporated (JLP), allows its members to be among the most effective and caring volunteers in the community. The community benefits greatly from JLP training as JLP volunteers bring an added emotional and intellectual component to volunteering and approach it with more mental initiative.
The Junior League of Phoenix, Incorporated, provides training for its members in the following ways:
The Training Vice President is responsible for ensuring members receive training opportunities both internal and external to The Junior League, such as advocacy training which educates members about legislative issues, lobbying events, and other areas that impact the needs of the community. Members are also provided leadership development opportunities to not only hold leadership positions in The Junior League, but provide expertise in the community by serving on boards, fundraisers, or as advocates or liaisons for other non-profit organizations;
General Membership Meetings provide training in a large group setting by providing speakers who cover such topics as grant writing, communications skills and diversity, as well as providing access to speakers like Joanne Johnson Felt and Jan Langbein;
In-League Committees are a source of training by their nature. For example, volunteers can learn about finance at any level by participating in one of the areas under the Finance Vice President or about the media by working in one of the Communications Vice President's areas; and
The Provisional Course teaches the newest members about The Junior League of Phoenix, Incorporated (JLP), and past and current programs resulting from JLP volunteer hours and fundraising efforts The Association of Junior League International Inc. and its global impact; as well the challenges and opportunities facing the Metro Phoenix community.
